Bob Parson’s Kills Elephant – Bad For GoDaddy PR

Actually, it has been expected that we are going to see sexy girls and that is their sales pitch. However, this time the latest news from GoDaddy isn’t about girls in lingerie or anything to that nature. It’s about killing elephants in Zimbabwe to save farmers crops. This wasn’t their latest advertisement, but the story that lies behind this latest video, that has been sweeping the internet is down right disturbing.

So the setting is Labola, Zimbabwe on March 8,2011 where the video starts by showing that farmers are starving in Zimbabwe, because elephants are stampeding their crops. In subtitles it shows that the camera crew along with Bob Parsons is flagged down. After that a series of subtitles accompanied with a black screen shows that elephants are violent at night and the crew has nearly no visibility. Bang, the screen comes back into focus with the subtitles “Bob Parsons fires first.” followed by two shots. He kills one elephant and the remaining elephants run away, unhurt. Then it flashes to Bob Parsons standing over an elephant with the butt of his rifle on the elephants neck. Then with AC/DC blaring in the background a number of Zimbabwe villagers gut the elephants with GoDaddy hats on. Subtitles flash up stating there is not enough food for everyone. Subtitles pop up stating crops are saved, and the crew goes on to “help: another farmer.

According to PETA, “Parsons is hiding behind the lame claim that killing elephants helps farmers in Africa whose crops are damaged by the animals. In fact, there are ample effective and nonlethal methods to deter elephants from crops. Furthermore, PETA has boycotted GoDaddy and one could only suspect that this isn’t going to helps GoDaddy’s public image as Bob Parson comes off as a ego driven lunatic.
