HostPapa is headquartered in Niagra Falls, NY and in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. They are privately owned and use the motto “Let Papa take care of you” because they claim to treat each and every customer as if they are family and look after every need that they have. They offer hosting services to many medium to small size companies and consider themselves to be a great company among all of their competitors. They offer a hosting plan that is reasonably priced and the price gets lower if you sign a longer contract with them.
HostPapa Features
With HostPapa you will have access to unlimited email accounts, webmail, control panel, online billing, technical support experts, very easy setup, Fantastico, Site builder and B2Evolution. You will also have access to free unlimited subdomains, unlimited parked domains, a free domain for life, free domain transfer and free site design software. The email features include an organizer, task manager, personal memos, a personal address book and a calendar. You will also have access to a SPAM filter, POP3 Email Access, SMTP for outgoing emails, Sendmail Access, auto responders, forwarding addresses and SpamAssassin. You can take advantage of their online reporting and online statistic products which include Analog, Webalizer, Counters, Current visitors reports, and sub domain stats.
HostPapa Support
HostPapa offers round the clock email support. They have a limited time span for phone assistance as it is not available around the clock. They have a staff on hand to provide live chat with you if you have concerns. While they have people available they are not the most helpful. There have been complaints that a help ticket has been opened and the company decided that it was a request to cancel the service rather than get the problem fixed. The customer service representatives were less than helpful and did not answer the questions that were being asked. The support that HostPapa offers is less than adequate in our opinion.
HostPapa Uptime
HostPapa offers 99.9% uptime with their service. They have round the clock system monitoring to ensure that your site operates at maximum capacity. They make use of the top performing hardware and software and have very large bandwidth pipelines. To keep your site up and running they have a tier one collocation datacenter at your service. Even with all of these assets, they still cannot manage to keep their sites up and running. There are many problems with downtime according to HostPapas current customers.
The Bottom Line With HostPapa
We do not recommend doing business with this provider. There are just too many problems with keeping sites up and running and connecting with a customer service representative when you need one. There are a large number of dissatisfied customers that cannot operate their online business because of the extremely poor uptime and very slow services. When requests are launched to increase their bandwidth they are met with opposition from the customer service representatives that is if they can get a hold of one. There are much better services available then the HostPapa service. There are better web hosting services and I recommend you read my GoDaddy and InMotion review.
