Network solutions has been in business for almost thirty years. They manage more than seven million domains, more than three hundred and fifty thousand web sites, and more than one and a half million e-mailboxes. They offer a lot of information for their users that include online videos that will inform people how to begin a website that will make your business successful. The offer online labs and connection systems for business owners to get the information that they need. They can guide you in finding the right domain name and can provide web hosting that combines great service with reliable systems. (much like iPage.). In this Network Solutions review I am going to show why I don't recommend their web hosting service.

Network Solutions Features

Network Solutions offers a free domain name and the use of the website builder tools for each area of service that they provide. They offer blog and website add-ons that will make your business more user friendly and keep you in touch with your customers. You can take advantage of business applications and templates that are specific to the industry that you are operating in. You can have access to an Ecommerce shopping cart as well as email boxes and online file storage (in GB). You will have a substantial amount of disc space and monthly data transfers as well as a free domain. The packages come with domain and directory pointers. You can take advantage of a catch all email address and an auto responder attached to the email. They use UNIX – web statistics and Windows Website statistics. The services include PHP 5(for Unix only), Zend Libraries, Python, Java Servlets, JSP, ASP, and .NET. The application and database features include ColdFusion MX (for some plans), MySQL Databases, MS Access, MS SQL Datase, phpMyAdmin, and Cron Jobs. They provide open source applications that will allow you to customize your website and you will have access to extensive programming languages.

Network Solutions Support

Network solutions has some pretty nice options on their website for answering some of the more common questions that a customer may have. They do have a customer service center that has reputable employees working for them. While there has been some complaints that the customer service associates are less than helpful and tend to “refer” you in another direction, the overall opinion of their customer service is favorable. The problem comes with their uptime issues with international sites.

Network Solutions Uptime

Network Solutions provide 99.9% uptime for their Unix and Windows customers. They do exclude standard maintenance time into that percentage. They strive to keep all sites up and running at all times. This uptime guarantee is maintained for the most part. The major problem with this service comes with the international sites that are set up. Many people in other countries, such as Australia, are having trouble registering or maintaining their sites.

The bottom line with Network Solutions

We do not recommend using Network Solutions for your business needs. There have been complaints about the site “stealing” their domain and sub domain names and advertising for Network Solutions on them. While this is a common claim, it is not entirely true. The fine print that almost no one reads says that if you have an inactive domain they have the right to use if for their own purposes until you begin using it again. There are many other web hosting companies that are straight forward with their contracts and will provide assistance to their clients no matter which country they are operating from. I would highly recommend you read my Lunarpages or FatCow review if you want a good hosting plan. Still not convinced that Network Solutions is a horrible web hosting service.
