RealWebHost Review Since it was founded in 1997, Real Web Host prides itself in having done several moves and ways to make web hosting as user friendly as humanly possible. The automated systems and simple set-up enables the company to offer plans with inexpensive startup costs (much like InMotion); providing web hosting solutions for individuals who want to create websites for personal or family use and for those who plan to make a career from web hosting or for small businesses to advance their online presence. Real Web Host currently offers one of the lowest-priced in shared hosting, VPS, reseller hosting and dedicated servers. The company maintains two huge datacenters: one in Dallas Texas, and the other in Fremont, California. The company’s noble intent should have made them a better web hosting provider. Unfortunately, that just isn’t the case. Read further and you’ll discover in this review how and where this company went wrong and why I don’t recommend them.

Real Web Host Features

Real Web Host has 5 different plans to offer, with the Starter Plan as the least-priced at $8.95 per month; while the top level package is priced at $28.95. All plans offer straightforward amounts of disk space and bandwidth, which to a certain degree is one of the good things about Real Web Host. Of course, that’s not a guarantee that the company would deliver. But at least they don’t spread the icing too thick with such promises as UNLIMITED bandwidth and storage space, which is quite impossible in the first place.

Plans also include typical components of features and services you can find in most hosting plans, such as cPanel for easy access and control, mailing lists, MySQL and Postgre SQL, domain pointers and sub-domains, FTP and POP3 accounts, daily backups, remote web mails with spam filters, Anti Virus protection, PHP5 and a host of other scripts and applications – the works. But now you may ask…do they really work? Are all these impressive features, applications and services actually delivered efficiently? The short answer is NO. Sadly, there are several times when MySQL database becomes unavailable, ranging from a few minutes to an hour (this is mostly true when you run a vBulletin site). Although they don’t last long, problems in connecting to FTP (and your website) frequently happens. Real Web Host is also notorious for moving sites to different servers, without prior notice; which of course requires DNS changes and causes downtimes for users until such time that the new DNS is propagated.

Uptime and Reliability

The reliability of Real Web Host leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least. Needless to say, the uptime guarantee of nearly 100% never really happens (unlike HostGator). Real Web Host seems to encounter all sorts of server problems that lead to downtimes. They haven’t done much to address this problem either. Hacking is also a serious issue for this company (like GoDaddy). Another proof of how sloppy the company is when it comes to safe and secure hosting they don’t even have an identity verification system in place. You can ask or instruct them about certain accounts (even yours) and they won’t even bother to verify that you are indeed the account owner.

The biggest thorn to the customers, however, is the way the technical staff treats the customers, which is often described as rude and unprofessional. The technical staff clearly displays inappropriate behavior and attitude, despite their blatant incompetence to respond to customer dissatisfaction and truly resolve the problems, these people have the audacity to be condescending and treat the customers like they were idiots. Getting refunds is another sorry state, too. Although clearly stated in the TOS and company policy, Real Web Honor has failed, time and again, to honor its Money-Back guarantee as well as the commitment to provide refunds for canceled prepaid accounts.

Bottom Line

Some customers who have decided seek other hosting providers noted that the early part of the web hosting experience with Real Web Host seems to be quite impressive. But when the honeymoon phase is over, it is when you’d discover that the company is not worth one’s salt. Don’t wait to find out the hard way how inefficient this company is.
